I know that my mother wonders where the time has gone when she looks at me...just like me when I look at Derek. I truly wonder where the last 17 years have gone.
This month's Ensign, President Monson said, “Time passes quickly. Many parents say that it seems like yesterday that their children were born. Now those children are grown, perhaps with children of their own. ‘Where did the years go?’ they ask. We cannot call back time that is past, we cannot stop time that now is, and we cannot experience the future in our present state. Time is a gift, a treasure not to be put aside for the future but to be used wisely in the present.”

The senior pictures are done
Derek's senior pictures arrived yesterday. As Derek and I were looking at them, I started to cry. Ok...I am losing it a little. In a few of them, he looked really funny and in others, he looked like the man I hope he is becoming.
Now the job of picking out ones for the family. I wonder if it is ok to carry around a book of 200 pictures to show people?

Senior Pictures
So yesterday, Derek had his senior pictures taken. Kathi Knowles (the photographer) did a FANTASTIC job!! If you need her information, let me know. We went to Rood Bridge Park and brought quite a few "outfits". As I was watching from the sidelines, it occurred to me that my son is quite handsome and a HUGE ham. Kathi didn't have to ask Derek to pose at all. Derek was quite natural at being "posed".
This is the first of many "senior" moments that I hope to have with Derek.

Where do I start???
06So being a single mom of a boy has been a joy!! A job!! And most importantly an experience I would never trade. But...now that he is a senior, I am having a hard time accepting that he is moving on and will one day be out of the house. So how do I deal? I decided to compose a blog of my experiences throughout Derek's senior year of high school
